The Poetry & Poetics Colloquium is hosting a book discussion with Jasper Bernes, author of The Work of Art in the Age of Deindustrialization (Stanford University Press, 2017).

On Friday, February 9, from 12:30-2pm, the Poetry & Poetics Colloquium is hosting a book discussion with Jasper Bernes, author of The Work of Art in the Age of Deindustrialization (Stanford University Press, 2017). This discussion will be held in the Hagstrum Room (University Hall 201).

We will be discussing the book’s Introduction and Chapter 4 (“The Feminization of Speed-Up”), which focuses on the work of poet Bernadette Mayer. For .pdf copies of these chapters, just send me a note in reply to this email and I will send them to you.

Jasper Bernes is author of a scholarly book, The Work of Art in the Age of Deindustrialization, and two books of poetry, Starsdown (2007) and We Are Nothing and So Can You (2015). His essays, poems and other writings can be found in Critical Inquiry, Modern Language QuarterlyRadical Philosophy, Endnotes, Lana Turner, The American Reader, and elsewhere. Together with Juliana Spahr and Joshua Clover, he edits Commune Editions.
